Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: The Vice President of Locum Tenens is responsible for the overall management of the Locum Tenens functions within HealthTrust Workforce Solutions. This includes its day-to-day operations including requisition/submittal process, evaluating compatibility of client needs and candidate qualifications, and facilitates the negotiation of contractual relationships between clients and candidates.  Manages and directs team of consultants in overseeing all their duties and responsibilities.  This is a revenue producing position with high level of responsibility and autonomy. The position is also responsible for complying with corporate policy, procedures and directives, ethical compliance, managing resources, promoting teamwork with staff associates, and maximizing internal and external customer satisfaction.

SUPERVISES:  Director of Locum Tenens – Client Representatives, Director of Locum Tenens – Physician Agents and front line production team members. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Manages a locums team, communicating on an ongoing basis the progress of each employee, perform quarterly performance reviews, and communicate to management the progress of each team member.
  • Responsible for interviewing, hiring, training & development of team members at all levels within the department.
  • Formulate teaching outline and conduct training sessions covering specified areas such as medical terminology, specialties, cold calling, etc. on a rotating basis for the department.
  • Supervises and sets clearly defined goals on an individual and departmental basis.
  • Responsible for results in assigned areas.
  • Provides lost business reports on a weekly basis to management team.
  • Consistently achieve key performance indicators in required markets as set forth by company standards.
  • Project weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual production numbers.
  • Assists appropriate individuals, including Corporate Operations and the A/R Department to ensure timely collection of receivables.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and candidates, and act as primary liaison between clients and candidates.
  • Analyze and evaluate client staffing needs and the competitiveness of proposed compensation package in the particular location for the medical specialty sought.
  • Identify, contact, interview, and screen candidates nationwide for staffing opportunities via cold calling, Internet, journals, and various databases.
  • Analyze and evaluate candidate qualifications, education, background interests, geographical preferences, family requirements, and compensation requirements.
  • Analyze and evaluate compatibility of client and candidate needs and expectations.
  • Negotiate and/or facilitate the negotiation of contractual terms to be entered into between clients and candidates, including referral of the parties to legal counsel regained by HealthTrust when, in the judgment of discretion of the consultant, referral is necessary for contract interpretation and/or restructure.
  • Secure final contract between the client and the selected candidate.
  • Submits daily and weekly activity/call reports concerning candidate/client related activities for quotes, orders, and problems concerning candidate/client relationships.
  • Practice and adhere to the “Code of Conduct” philosophy and “Mission and Value Statement”.
  • Performs other duties as required and assigned.

Job Requirements


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES: This position requires the following minimal requirements:

  • High level of intelligence and aptitude
  • Outstanding interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Able to communicate in a professional and proficient manner with clients (e.g., chief executive officers, medical directors, and administrators) and candidates in specialized areas of medicine
  • Strong analytical and evaluative skills
  • Solid negotiation skills
  • Proficient in the use of computer programs, databases, and Internet research
  • Self-disciplined, self-motivated, and results-oriented
  • Able to assume substantial responsibilities with minimal supervision
  • Able to exercise discretion and independent judgment
  • Must work well in high-pressure situations and a dynamic work environment
  • Some travel required throughout the United States

EDUCATION:  Four-year college degree required.

EXPERIENCE:  Sales, marketing, and/or recruiting experience preferred. Healthcare experience, training, and/or coursework helpful.
