StaRN - Hospital Clinical Simulation Specialist - Full Time


A Simulation Operator/Technician is responsible for maintaining and operating task trainers, mannequin-based simulators, and surgical simulators (at some sites) along with associated supplies and equipment.


Full Time

Monday-Friday 7am- 5pm

60/40 split between working in our Hospitals, Convention Centers, Hotels and Simulation Centers

Medical Simulation experience a plus

Bachelor’s degree preferred, equivalent work experience may substitute degree requirement

1-3 years of experience preferred, but not required.


Operates and maintains task trainers, mannequin-based simulators and associated supplies and equipment

Operates simulation equipment with the ability to follow medical aspects of training scenarios and makes appropriate adjustments based on participant actions as directed by Subject Matter Expert (SME)

Operates an audio-video recording system i.e. SimView Mobile, learning space or similar

Facilitates simulation training and provides collaborative feedback to Sim Operator Lead

Clean, maintain and troubleshoot task trainer, mid and high fidelity equipment

Package equipment and palletize for return delivery if necessary Serves on HWS Disaster team and participates in all activities related to readiness, planning and implementation. Other duties as assigned

Contribute to the design, development, testing, and implementation of training materials and scenarios.

Set up simulation supplies and equipment to meet training objectives.

Operate simulation equipment, task trainers, computerized simulators and virtual reality procedural trainers.

Assist in the coordination and delivery of medical simulation expertise and support to standardized courses which lend themselves to simulation, such as: Basic Cardiac Life Support, Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, and Trauma Nurse Corps Curriculum.

Support simulation needs of other formalized training programs as appropriate.

Work with a broad array of stakeholders to contribute to the development of training materials

Exercises judgment to identify, determine the nature and potential sources of problems and selects appropriate course of action in response to problems and customer needs.

Provides support to evaluate course content; initiates, recommends and implements modifications as necessary.

In the absence of a Simulation Coordinator, the Operator will function in this capacity when classes are concluded.

Duties may vary and are subject to change based on specific site requirements, training platform, and equipment at each site.

Pay Range for Level 1 (0-3 years of experience)

Minimum: $19/hr.

Maximum: $21/hr.
